Vladimir Lenin (the founder of the Soviet Union) once said –‘There are decades when nothing happens; and there are weeks when decades happen’. He was frustrated that despite Russia’s extreme inequalities and brutal political system, it took the Great War to awaken the slumbering masses.

While today’s geopolitical tensions have been rising for almost two decades, they escalated exponentially in the last two weeks, to a point where for the first time since the 1960s, even a global military conflict might be no longer inconceivable.

Those who believe that war has no place in our world should revisit the 1910 best- seller by Norman Angell, where he argued that destructive power of modern weapons and extensive interconnectedness (globalization levels of 1913 were not replicated until the 1990s) made war unimaginable, only to witness World War I breaking-out within four years of publication
